GOLF: Lumberjacks take third at Classic Invitational
BRAINERD -- The Bemidji High School girls golf team continued its streak of quality golf on Wednesday, taking third place out of 14 teams at the 2018 Classic Invitational hosted by Brainerd at Madden’s on Gull Lake.
Also an ongoing trend, senior Abbie Kelm led the Lumberjacks with an 80 on the round, which was good enough to take fourth individually.
Junior Taylor Offerdahl followed in eighth place with an 84, while Damaris Berg and Tatum Offerdahl each carded 92s to take 23rd and 24th, respectively.
Nicki Son logged a 95 and Kylen Fenson a 107 to record backup scores for the Jacks.
Bemidji fell just two strokes behind Detroit Lakes, which serves as a benchmark team for the Lumberjacks to try to beat. The Lakers’ Maddie Herzog and Anna Cihak took the top two spots with scores of 75 and 79, respectively.
Marshall took the team title with a 337 on the day, as each of their six golfers in the lineup carded a 95 or better.
The Jacks compete in another tournament at noon today at Cedar Creek Golf Club in Albertville.
