FOOTBALL: Bagley senior named H.S. Heisman winner
BAGLEY -- Jarret Merschman, a Bagley High School senior, has been named as the Minnesota state winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award and a $1000 scholarship.
Wendy’s High School Heisman is a joint program between Wendy’s and the Heisman Trophy Trust, host and custodians of the Heisman Memorial Trophy awarded to college football’s top player. The scholarship honors the most esteemed high school seniors who share Wendy’s values of giving back to their communities, treating people with respect, continuing education and excelling on the athletic field.
Merschman has been a multi-sport athlete at Bagley High School. He has participated in football, hockey, baseball, track and golf. In addition, Merschman served as a captain of the hockey and football teams during his senior seasons. He has received numerous team, conference, district and academic awards throughout his career.
Merschman has also been very active as a student leader at Bagley High School. He is a member of the knowledge bowl team and student council and is also yearbook editor. Merschman was selected as a member of the National Honor Society, earned Student of the Month recognition and has been a regular on the A-Honor Roll. He has also been active within the community volunteering his time at many events.
