Menton falls short of national meet

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - Danny Menton of the Bemidji State men's golf team fell a few shots short of qualifying for the NCAA II National tournament.

The Beaver finished at 218 in the Central-West Regional and placed fourth among the individuals who were not on the teams that qualified for the national team tournament.

The top five teams, and the top two individuals not on those teams, advanced to the NCAA II National meet which will be held in Simpsonville, Kent.

Menton followed a pair of 71 rounds with Wednesday's 76 for a 54-hole total of 218.

The Beavers placed 13th as a team with 299-298-313. Bemidji State had the highest finish among the NSIC teams in the field. St. Cloud placed 15th at 912.

Also competing for BSU were Casey Hill who shot 73-73-82-228, John Hafdal who finished 78-79-76-233, Andrew Benson whose card read 77-77-83-237 and Matt Haugstad who shot 82-77-79-238.
