BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State softball team went into extra innings in both games of Wednesday's conference doubleheader against Minnesota-Crookston, but came up short in both as the Golden Eagles were able to get runs in the top of the eighth inning in both games.

The Beavers fall to 7-16 (0-6 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) with Wednesday's 5-3 and 6-2 losses.

In the opener, Bemidji freshman Summer went 3 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Crystal Bowen and Hannah Benzie also had multi-hit games for BSU.

In game two, the Beavers scored in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but Crookston plated four in the eighth.

Courtney Loegering, Megan Beard and Megan Bergeson each had two hits for the Beavers.

Bemidji State returns to action this weekend as they head to Augustana and Wayne State for two more NSIC series.
