Dragons overpower Bemidji State volleyball team in sweep

The Bemidji State volleyball team lost to Minnesota State Moorhead 3-0 Friday night.

The game scores were 25-17, 25-12 and 25-17.

Bethany Thompson had eight kills and Kelsi Crawford had seven kills to lead BSU. Kelly Niles and Rachel Craig each had four kills.

Courtney Volkmann had 21 set assists and Leigh Peterson had 11 digs. Jessi-Beth McCannell had 10 digs.

Moorhead was led by Annie Palmquist's perfect night. She had 12 kills and had no errors on 17 attempts.

Meredith Egeland and Morgan Gradishar each added eight kills for the Dragons.

The Beavers have now lost their last 16 matches to MSU Moorhead dating back to Oct. 4, 2003, the last time they defeated a Dragon squad.

Bemidji State dropped to 6-19 overall (3-14 NSIC) with the loss. The Beavers wrap up weekend play Saturday at Minnesota-Crookston at 3 p.m.

BSU closes out the season next weekend with two home games: Friday against MSU, Mankato and Saturday against Southwest Minnesota State.
