Bemidji State volleyball team loses to ranked Minnesota-Duluth

The Bemidji State volleyball team lost to No. 5 ranked Minnesota-Duluth 3-0 Tuesday night in Duluth.

The game scores were 25-14, 25-13, 25-13.

The Bulldogs hit .344 to the Beavers .041 hitting percentage and were led by Kate Lange's 13 kills.

The Bulldogs improved to an unblemished 12-0 (4-0 NSIC) record. BSU falls to 4-8 (1-3 NSIC).

UMD was the first in a line of three ranked opponents for the Beavers this week. BSU faces No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State and No. 14 Minnesota State University, Mankato this weekend.

"Minnesota Duluth is not No. 5 by accident," said BSU head coach Wayne Chadwick. "Although we showed spurts of being able to trade points with them and go back and forth, we weren't able to maintain that with any type of consistency. In all three games UMD was able to go on a couple of runs that proved to be the difference."

Kelsi Crawford and Bethany Thompson each had six kills for BSU. Setter Jessi-Beth McCannell had 15 assists.

Libero Laura Carlson finished with 14 digs.

"Laura was able to dig out some bombs from Minnesota Duluth's hitters tonight," Chadwick said. "She also passed very strongly for us in system."
