The Bemidji State University baseball team dropped a home doubleheader to Concordia-St. Paul Saturday, falling 17-7 in the opener and 7-5 in the nightcap.

Saturday's first game saw the teams trade big innings early in the action as 3-run first and third innings for C-SP were offset by BSU's 4-run second and 2-run third.

The visitors, however, maintained that offensive pace with a run in the fourth and six in the fifth. C-SP iced the win with four in the seventh.

Logan Kalis and Joe Chism ripped back-to-back doubles to open the BSU second and singles by Lewis Baumann and Cody Bergquist complimented the inning.

The Beavers temporarily tied the game 6-6 in the lower third when Nick Jelacie singled, Kalis was hit by a pitch, Chism singled and the defense made a wide throw.

The visitors broke the game open in the fifth as their bats produced seven hits which resulted in six runs.

Jelacie and Chism had a pair of hits for the Beavers.

In the nightcap the teams were tied 3-3 heading into the 10th inning. C-SP, however, scored four runs in the decisive frame on four hits and two errors while the Beavers answered with two runs. BSU also had four hits in the 10th but stranded a pair of runners.

Colton Smith, Kalis and Baumann each ripped a pair of hits.

BSU (9-15, 3-7 NSIC) will host Concordia-St. Paul (8-5, 2-2) in another doubleheader today starting at noon.
