BSU baseball, softball home openers pushed back to Thursday

BEMIDJI — Due to field conditions at both the BSU Baseball Field and the BSU softball field, both baseball and softball home-opening doubleheaders — originally scheduled for today — have been moved back to Thursday.

The baseball team’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader against Wayne State will begin at 2 p.m., weather permitting. BSU’s exhibition game at North Dakota State, scheduled for Tuesday, was cancelled.

The softball team’s NSIC games against Minnesota-Duluth will also begin at 2 p.m. Thursday

Despite the delay, BSU should get an earlier start on their home season than they did last year. They didn’t play in Bemidji until May 1.

The softball team, meanwhile, didn’t play a single game at home.

The baseball Beavers (11-10, 5-3 NSIC) are coming off a road trip at U-Mary Sunday and Monday in which they won three of four games versus the Marauders. The Beavers are 8-3 in their last 11 games and currently sit in fifth place, just behind Wayne State (15-11, 8-4 NSIC).

The softball team (11-15, 0-10 NSIC) is still looking for its first conference victory while UMD is 3-3 in conference play and 17-14 overall.
