FOOTBALL: BSU spring practice begins Sunday

BEMIDJI — The BSU football team is set to begin spring ball Sunday. The Beavers will utilize the new turf at Chet Anderson Stadium to get outside for their 15 spring practices,culminating with the annual Youth Football Clinic and Green and White Spring Game, scheduled for Thursday, April 24.

The Beavers will use the practices to prepare their returning players and semester transfers before summer vacation.

BSU will practice Sundays (March 30, April 6, 13), Tuesdays (April 1, 8, 15, 22), Thursdays (April 3, 10, 17, 24), Fridays (April 11, 18) and Saturdays (April 5, 12), while using Mondays and Wednesdays as make-up days. Weekday practices are set for 4-6 p.m., while weekend sessions are scheduled for 3-5 p.m.

The 15th and final practice will serve as the Spring Game, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium.

The game is free and open to the public.

Prior to the game, BSU football student-athletes and coaches will conduct a youth football clinic for kids in grades K-6 from 5-6 p.m. at the stadium. Registration for the clinic is $15 and will be held indoors at BSU’s Gillette Recreation/Fitness Center in the case of inclement weather.

Current Bemidji State football coaches and players will conduct on-field fundamental football instructions on throwing, catching, blocking, kicking and tackling. Included in the registration fee are a Beaver football T-shirt, picnic lunch and the opportunity to get autographs from Bemidji State coaches and athletes.

The picnic lunch and autograph session will follow the one-hour clinic at 6 p.m. The event will be capped with the annual BSU Green and White Spring Game.
