MEN'S BASEBALL: Beavers win Sunday, have games cancelled Monday
KANSAS CITY, MO. — Tyler Saeugling pitched all nine innings and Zach Braun drove in three runs in BSU’s 10-3 win over Avila University Sunday in Kansas City.
The game was the first of three scheduled games in Kansas City, but the Beavers had a pair of games with Rockhurst cancelled Monday due to cold temperatures and snow.
Braun got things going for BSU in the win over Avila with a RBI double in the top half of the first inning.
Drake Huggans added a RBI double of his own and came around to score in the second inning to give Saeugling and the Beavers an early three-run cushion.
Chad Hanson belted a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to make it 4-0.
Avila scored its first run in its half of the sixth inning, but BSU answered with a five-run top of the seventh inning to increase the lead to a comfortable 9-1 margin.
The inning was highlighted by a two-run single from Braun.
The eight-run lead was more than enough for Saeugling (2-1,) who allowed three runs on seven hits, while striking out eight, in his complete game win.
BSU (4-7) is scheduled to play a pair of games today, starting at noon, against Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kan.
Softball is postponed
The BSU softball team was scheduled to open its home schedule today against Minnesota Crookston, but due to the unplayable field conditions, the games have been postponed and rescheduled for April 8.
The Beavers (11-5) are scheduled to host Minnesota State and Concordia St. Paul this weekend.
