The Bemidji State women's hockey team completed the weekend sweep of St. Cloud State with a 4-0 victory Saturday afternoon at the Bemidji Regional Event Center.

Erin Cody scored two goals for the Beavers to finish with five of the team's seven goals in the sweep. Sadie Lundquist and Montana Vichorek also scored in BSU's third straight win.

"I thought we played much more of a full game and were more efficient," BSU head coach Steve Sertich said. "It was a fairly consistent and complete game for us."

The Beavers returned to the .500 mark and are 4-4 on the year (2-2 WCHA). St. Cloud State remained winless (0-9 overall, 0-6 WCHA).

Bemidji State stays at home next weekend to face defending national champion and the current No. 3-ranked team in the country in Minnesota-Duluth. Game times are 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday.

In Friday's 3-2 BSU win, the Huskies scored a pair of third-period goals and nearly forced overtime. Saturday's contest was not as close.

BSU outshot SCSU 36-17 in the game and allowed just nine shots through two periods.

Bemidji State goalie Zuzana Tomcikova made all 17 saves for her second shutout this season and her 10th career shutout. St. Cloud State goalie Ashley Nixon had 32 saves.

"We mostly just did the little things right and took care of the puck," Cody said.

Lundquist opened scoring 58 seconds into the game when she jammed a loose rebound through Huskies goalie Ashley Nixon.

The next two goals came on the power play: Vichorek scored on a slap shot at 13:40 of the first period and Erin Cody made it 3-0 at 10:24 of the second period by putting back a rebound from Erika Wheelhouse's shot.

Cody scored her team leading seventh goal of the season with 51 seconds left in the second period. She one-timed Bauerfeld's pass into the top of the net for the goal.

The sweep gave the Beavers six much needed points in the WCHA standings.

"It gives us the start we needed and some confidence going into next week," Bauerfeld said.
