The Bemidji State University men's golf team posted a 297 (+9) Saturday to hold down fourth place after the first round of the 36-hole 2010 St. John's University Invitational at the St. Cloud Country Club.

The Beavers, who are just 13 strokes off the lead owned by St. John's, head into Sunday's final round led by Chris Curb. The freshman carded a round one even-par 72 to sit tied for fifth place individually.

BSU's Ben Moen is right behind after shooting a one-over 73.

St. John's Tony Krogen fired a 69 (-3) to own low-round honors edging a group of three in second (71; -1) by two shots.

Bemidji State and the rest of the field will wrap up the St. John's Invitational Sunday at Monticello Country Club.

Rainy weather conditions at Brandon Golf Course halted play during the second round of the NSIC Women's Golf Championship, leaving BSU's participants unable to finish their rounds.

BSU, along with four other rained out groups, will complete their rounds Sunday morning before beginning the final round of the championship.

The Beavers finished the first round of play tied for seventh place Friday. BSU was led by junior Gretchen Trosen, who carded a first-day total of 87 to sit 16 shots over par to tie for 21st place individually.

Saturday's and Sunday's BSU softball doubleheaders against Augustana and Wayne State have been rescheduled due to the threat of rain.

BSU will play Augustana on Sunday in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The doubleheader against Wayne State has been pushed back to Monday at 2 p.m.
