Brianna Duff and Derek Edholm have been selected as Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week after outstanding athletic performances during the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Duff, a midfielder for the BSU soccer team, netted two goals and an assist in a 7-0 victory over Northwestern College last Friday.
Edholm, a junior quarterback and 2009 team captain, rushed for 116 yards on 23 carries in the Beavers 37-34 overtime loss to No. 10 Minnesota State University, Mankato. His 100-yard rushing day put him in elite company. Since 1980, only two other BSU quarterbacks have rushed for 100 yards or more in a single game. His 116 yards ranks second only to Marty Follis (140 yards) against Wayne State in 1992.
The BSU football team hosts No. 20 Winona State University at 1 p.m. Saturday in the team's 13th Annual Shrine Game.
