BSU SPORTS ROUNDUP: Women’s hockey team heads to UND for first round of playoffs

BEMIDJI — The BSU women’s hockey team will travel to UND for a best-of-three series in the opening round of the WCHA playoffs.

The series will begin 7 p.m. Friday and resume at 7 p.m. Saturday. If a third game is needed it will be played 7 p.m. Sunday.

BSU finished the regular season with an 11-19-4 overall and an 8-17-3 league record and received the No. 6 seed. UND is 17-11-4 and 14-10-4 and was ranked third in the league playoffs.

Other first-round playoff contests see St. Cloud visiting Minnesota, Ohio State heading to UMD and Minnesota State invading Wisconsin.

The first-round winners will advance to the WCHA Final Five which will be played March 7-8 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji.

Softball team opens season

The BSU softball team begins its preseason action today and Wednesday in St. Paul with a pair of games against Valley City and Superior plus single games against Jamestown and Carleton.
