BEMIDJI -- Jim Stone was in a celebratory mood Wednesday when the BSU soccer coach announced this year’s recruiting class.

“This is a day of thanksgiving for our program,” Stone said. “We graduated seven seniors in positions all over the place so we had quite a few needs. And I think we accomplished (addressing those needs) with this class.”

Stone’s seven recruits include a goalkeeper, two forwards, two midfielders, a defender and a player who can move from defense to forward. The class includes a player from Colorado, another from South Dakota, two from Wisconsin and three from Minnesota.

“This is a diverse group,” Stone said. “We went with kids who will make an impact on others in a positive way and kids who love and are passionate about the game.

“We take three things into account with each recruiting class,” Stone continued. “We want every member of our class to be good in the classroom. We want them to be good people and make an impact on campus and in the community. And we also look for soccer players who want to grow and challenge themselves.”
