BEMIDJI — Robert Morris scored twice in the second period and it was all the Colonials would need, as they secured a 2-1 win over Bemidji State Friday night at the Sanford Center.

It was the home opener for the Beavers (1-1-1), who failed to score until Tess Dusik’s tally with five seconds left in the game. She was assisted by Hanna Moher and Kaitlyn Tougas.

Maddie Collias scored for the Colonials (2-1-0) at the 3:49 mark of the second period and Maeve Garvey put RMU up 2-0 at 10:04.

The Beavers outshot the Colonials 29-18 but couldn’t hit the back of the net until the last-second goal.

Brittni Mowat made 16 saves for BSU while RMU’s Courtney Vinet stopped 28 shots.

The teams return to action at 4:07 p.m. today to close out their nonconference series.
