ELBINGERODE, Germany -- Former Bemidji State forward Mason Walters will continue his basketball career overseas.

The 6-foot-7 Walters has inked a professional contract with the Bodfield Baskets Oberharz of the German-based 1.Regionalliga League.

Walters, a Milton, Wis., native, follows in the footsteps of former Beaver teammates James Ellisor (Russia) and Seth Haake (Germany) to make the jump to the professional level in Europe.

Last season Walters posted 14.1 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game (second in the NSIC) last season to help the Beavers finish 18-12 and make a deep run in the NSIC playoffs. He is also the 17th player in program history to reach the 1,000 career points plateau, and his 234 rebounds last season ranks fifth on BSU's single season rebounding chart. His 507 career rebounds is eighth all-time at Bemidji State.

Walters will own the lone roster spot for a non-European on the team and will wear number 23.

Last season the Baskets finished tied for fourth in the North Division of their leaguer with a 12-10 record.

The 2013-14 season beginns in September.
