BOYS BASKETBALL: Jacks battle back, top St. Paul Johnson 63-60
ST. PAUL -- The Bemidji High School boys basketball team found itself down by 12 with 10 minutes to go Friday, but the game wasn’t over. The Jacks worked their way back into the game, led by 21 points from Spencer Konecne, to steal a 63-60 road win against St. Paul Johnson.
To his point total, Konecne added with 12 rebounds and seven blocks, leading the Jacks (6-3) in all categories.
Kade Peterson followed with 13 points, while Ryan Bieberdorf and Linaes Whiting each had nine.
One of the keys to the game was free throw shooting, said head coach Travis Peterson. BHS finished 22-for-30 from the line, while the Governors (6-3) finished 10-for-23.
The teams played an even first half, resulting in a 27-26 Bemidji lead after the first 18 minutes. SPJ then took over for a solid lead in the second half before the Jacks made their move.
Jordan Mobley led the Governors with 14 points, followed by 13 from Nueadean Adam, nine from Keylon Jackson and eight from Terrel Turner.
BHS is back on the road for a 7:30 p.m. game Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Moorhead.
