AREA GOLF: Fisher, Pfannenstein qualify for state meet

BLACKDUCK — A pair of area golfers will play in the Minnesota Class A state golf tournament June 11-12 at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.

During the Section 7A meet recently held at the Virginia Golf Course, Mille Lacs captured the team championship and all five of its golfers advanced to state.

Among the top five golfers who were not members of the Mille Lacs team were Kaylee Fisher of Northome-Kelliher and Sasha Pfannenstein of Blackduck and both qualified for the state meet as individuals.

Fisher fired rounds of 92-98-190 and was third overall. Pfannenstein carded rounds of 103-96-199 and was seventh overall.

Fisher also played in the state meet in 2010 and 2011, shooting 215 both years. In 2010 Fisher finished 67th and in 2011 she was 76th.

In Tuesday’s opening round she will play the White Course in Becker and will be paired with McKenzie Harris of Nevis, Caitlin Richmond of Braham and Samantha Dahlen of Hayfield.

The group will begin its round at 1:03 p.m.

In the 1:12 p.m. pairing on the Red Course Pfannenstein will be joined by Ashley Schoenborn of Mahnomen, Shelby Schultz of Springfield and Karrah Remus of Sleepy Eye.
