GOLF: Beavers sign two for fall season

BEMIDJI — Bemidji State men’s golf coach Ekren Miller announced the additions of Josh Becks and A.J. Oster to the BSU golf program for the 2013-14 season.

Both future Beaver golfers signed National Letters of Intent during the NCAA’s regular signing period beginning April 17 and join Aaron Leintz of Bagley, who made a commitment to compete for the Beavers in 2013-14 during the NCAA’s early signing period Nov. 14-21.

Becks, from Hermantown, is a two-time MSHSL State Tournament qualifier with his senior season ahead of him. He finished his junior campaign averaging 74.5 strokes per round.

Oster, of Coon Rapids, was a three-time All-Northwest Suburban Conference pick at Andover High School.

A four-year letter winner for the Huskies’ golf team, he is a two-time MSHSL State AAA Qualifier (2010 and 2012), including finishing tied for 26th in 2012 with an 11-over-par (77-78—155). Oster was named all-state as a senior and was ranked as high as eighth by the Minnesota Golf Coaches Association, with a 74.3 average in 2012.
