FOOTBALL: Bemidji State announces 2013 schedule

BEMIDJI – The Bemidji State football team might not be practicing outdoors quite yet, but the Beavers are already making preparations for the 2013 season.

BSU head coach Jeff Tesch announced the team’s 2013 slate Tuesday. The Beavers will play an 11-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule, with five home games and six on the road.

BSU opens the season Sept. 7 at Winona State before returning home Sept. 14 for the annual Shrine Game.

That game will serve at BSU’s home opener at Chet Anderson Stadium. They’ll take on Concordia-St. Paul in the lone night game of the season, which is set to begin at 6 p.m.

Other home games on the Bemidji State schedule include dates with Southwest Minnesota State, University of Mary, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State.

BSU’s homecoming is set for Sept. 28 against Southwest State.

The Beavers will play road games at Augustana, Minnesota Crookston, Northern State, Minot State and Minnesota State Moorhead.

BSU is coming off a 7-4 season where it finished 6-1 in the NSIC North to tie for the North Division title.

The Beavers conclude 2013 spring practice April 25 with the annual Green and White Spring Game at Chet Anderson Stadium. The scrimmage begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
