BOYS BASKETBALL: Jacks run over Hermantown

HERMANTOWN -- The Bemidji High School boys basketball team bounced back after Friday night’s loss to beat Hermantown 75-57 on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Jacks (13-6) held a 34-31 edge at the half and returned from the locker room to outscore the Hawks (7-13) 41-26 in the second half for the win.

Bemidji had four scorers reach double figures in Colten Jensen (17), Linaes Whiting (16), Spencer Konecne (15) and Ryan Bieberdorf (13).

Konecne and Kade Peterson had 13 and seven rebounds, respectively, while Jace Peterson and Whiting each posted seven assists and Bieberdorf had five steals.

Kevin Baumann led Hermantown with 12 points, followed by Conner Bich’s 11.

Whiting’s 15 points, all of which came in the second half, puts him within seven of 1,000 in his varsity career. He’ll look to achieve the feat when the Lumberjacks host Duluth East at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the BHS Gymnasium.
