Area football players named All District

Area high school football players were recognized for their performance on the field this fall with the announcement of Northwest Football District postseason awards.

Three members of the Blackduck Drakes were named to the Northwest All District Team. Senior fullback/linebacker Luke Reiplinger, as well as quarterback/linebacker Ian Frenzel and wide receiver/defensive end Kobe Arp, both juniors, were selected to the team. Junior Haley Murray and sophomores Dylan Moen and Ethan Merril were named Honorable Mention All District.

A trio of Cass Lake-Bena Panthers were also selected to the Northwest All District Team. Quarterback Jared Brown and running back Hunter Kaasa, both juniors, and senior running back Michael Staples were honored for their seasons. Staples also received the L.E. Dreschel Offensive Player of the Year award. Seniors Saige Humphrey and Trystan LeBlanc and junior Allen Masten were named Honorable Mention All District.

Four Bagley High School seniors were named All District, including halfback/linebacker Jake Ubert, offensive lineman/linebacker Jacob Neeland, offensive lineman/defensive lineman Scott Lundsten and halfback/linebacker Kyle Thorson. Seniors Jarret Merschman, Lamarco Pemberton and Tannen Agnes were named Honorable Mention All District.

Red Lake High School saw a pair of players selected to the team in guard Matt Maxwell and tackle Jalen Kelly, both juniors. Senior Tom May and juniors David Smith and Chase Cobenais were named Honorable Mention All District.

Red Lake head coach Nolan Desjarlait was also awarded East Sub District Coach of the Year.
