Bemidji bowling team begins season

BEMIDJI -- The opening meet of the 2017 Minnesota High School fall co-ed bowling season for the North West Central Conference was held Sunday, Sept. 10, at Bemidji Bowl.

The Bemidji varsity team kicked off its season against Detroit Lakes, dropping the match 4-1. David Forte had a team-high fill percentage of 79 percent, followed by Dylan Hinners and Elliott Beevor with 70.

The varsity team then faced Perham in its second match and won 5-0. Hinners and Lindsey Theis led the way with fill percentages of 90 percent each, followed by Forte with

75 and Elliott Beevor with 70.

Bemidji dropped its third match 3-2 to New York Mills. Forte turned in a 92 fill percentage with Theis following at 90.

The Bemidji junior varsity team also kicked off the season against Detroit Lakes, dropping the match 3-2. Braden Olson posted a team-high 47 fill percentage followed by KateLynn Seitz and Demonte Desrosier.

The JV team won its second match against New York Mills 3-2. Olson led the team with a fill percentage of 67, followed by Matthew Callagan and Seitz.

The Bemidji JV team had a bye for its third match and won 3-2. Callagan turned in a fill percentage of 62.

The bowling teams are coached by Tom Burlingame, Craig Forte, and Scott Hinners.

The next meet will be hosted by Voyageur Lanes in Detroit Lakes on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m.
