VOLLEYBALL: Lumberjacks go 3-2 at St. Michael tourney
ST. MICHAEL — The Bemidji High School volleyball team lost in the consolation championship game Saturday afternoon at the St. Michael-Albertville Tournament.
The Lumberjacks went 3-2 in the tournament. After losing their opener against Southwest Christian — a close 23-25, 25-18, 16-18 loss — on Friday night, BHS rallied to win their next three matches.
The Lumberjacks (12-8) defeated Monticello (25-18, 25-23) on Friday then topped Owatonna (25-19, 26-24) and Anoka (25-21, 25-18) on Saturday to earn a spot in the consolation bracket title game against Stillwater.
BHS lost 18-25, 18-25 to finish the tournament 3-2.
Brylee Colligan led the Lumberjacks with 44 kills over the two-day tournament, while Katie Buckanaga added 82 assists, Emily Falldorf had 24 blocks and Heather Olson 46 digs.
The Lumberjacks will return to the court Monday with a home match against Grand Rapids.
