Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

GIRLS HOCKEY: Bemidji blanked by No. 1 Warroad, 14-0

WARROAD – Warroad is the No. 1 team in Class A for a reason.

The Warriors, who finished third in the state in Class A this year, backed up their preseason No. 1 rating Bemidji’s expense.

Warroad topped Bemidji 14-0 Tuesday night at Olympic Arena in Warroad.

“Warroad’s just awfully good,” BHS head coach Bob Brink said. “Any kind of mistakes you make, they capitalize on them. That happened tonight.”

The loss for BHS means the Lumberjacks are still seeking their first win. They are currently 0-3-4.

The Warriors (4-1) outshot the Lumberjacks 34-8 and scored five goals in the first two periods. They scored four goals in the third period.

For the Warriors, freshman Demi Gardner tallied four goals and an assist, while junior Lynn Astrup also had a hat trick with four goals.

“We just got outgunned tonight,” Brink said.

Morgan Miller started in goal for Bemidji and gave up seven goals. Leighton Rockenstock relieved Miller and gave up the other seven goals.

In all Lumberjack goaltenders made 20 saves.

Bemidji returns home Friday to host Chaska/Chanhassen. The StormHawks are 2-3-1 after defeating Shakopee 4-3 Tuesday night.
