Bemidji State's Braun, Kalis named to All-Central Region baseball team

DENVER -- Zach Braun of the Bemidji State baseball team has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associated (NCBWA) All-Central Region team and teammate Logan Kalis was selected to the honorable mention squad.

Braun was named a first team catcher and Kalis earned his as a designated hitter.

A 2012 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team catcher, Braun led the Beavers with a .391 batting average. His .578 slugging percentage tied with Kalis for the team-lead.

Kalis was a 2012 All-NSIC first team designated hitter. The junior batted .323 and led the team in home runs (10), RBI (43), runs scored (38), total bases (93) and triples (3).

Hill, Menton named to All-NSIC golf team

BURNSVILLE -- Bemidji State seniors Casey Hill and Danny Menton have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference 2011-12 All-Conference men's golf team.

St. Cloud State sophomore Charlie West was named the NSIC Golfer of the Year and Geoff Klein, third-year head coach at Minnesota State, is the Coach of the Year.

Hill led the Beavers and the NSIC in scoring average in (74.8). He finished among the top three on the leaderboard in three of the nine events he played, including the 54-hole NSIC Championship where finish third. He was named to the NSIC All-Tournament team for his performance in the event.

Menton saved his best for last leading BSU to 13th place at the 2012 NCAA Division II Central/West Super Regional May 7-9. The senior tied for 12th individually at two-over-par 218.
