BHS girls fourth at Long Prairie
LONG PRAIRIE - Katelin Craft fired a round of 47-41-88 to lead the Bemidji girls golf team to fourth place at Friday's meet held at the Long Prairie Golf Course.
Joining the Lumberjacks at the future site of the Section 8-3A tournament were most of their section rivals.
Alexandria took Friday's title with 355 while St. Cloud Apollo shot 361 and St. Cloud Tech 368. Bemidji finished at 373.
"This was the first time most of our girls have played the course," said BHS coach Jeff Nelson. "That is one of the reasons why we came here. We wanted the girls to become familiar with the layout.
"Now that they have, I think we'll shoot much better during the section meet (June 4-5)."
Nelson also expects the three teams in front of the Jacks to card lower rounds during the section competition but he believes that the section title is up for grabs.
"The top four spots in the section meet are wide open," Nelson said. "Now that we've looked the course over, we know where to hit the ball and where not to hit it. Our goal was to have the kids experience the course and now that they have I think we'll be ready for the section meet."
Morgan Miller, Kelsey Isaacson and Megan Dondelinger each finished with a 95 Friday while Morgan Williams shot 98 and Hailey Hinners 106.
Bemidji returns to action today when it competes at the Staples Invitational which will be held at the Vintage Golf Course.
