Former Bemidji State football player Wills signs pro contract
Former Bemidji State defensive end Rob Wills signed a contract with Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League last week.
Wills, a Roseville native, played for the Beavers from 2006-10.
He closed his final season with the lead in team sacks (8.0), tackles for loss (16.0) and yards from tackles for a loss (69).
He was named to the All-NSIC First Team, Second Team Daktronics, Inc. Super Region No. 3 team, and All-Region No. 3 Third Team by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
He ranked tied for second in the conference in tackles for loss and fourth in sacks to reach the top 31 in both categories nationally.
On Bemidij State's single-season charts, he finished seventh in tackles for loss yardage, tied for seventh in tackles for loss and eighth in sacks.
Wills completed his career 10th on the Bemidji State charts in tackles for loss (31), sacks (15.5) and yards from tackles for loss (127).
The IFL is a 16-team league created in the 2008 merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football. The Blizzard play a 14-game schedule that opens Feb. 26 at Sioux Falls.
In 2011, Green Bay's 11-3 record was good for first in the Great Lakes Division, two games ahead of Bloomington. The Blizzard play in Ashwaubenon, Wis. at the Resch Center.
