Weekend roundup: BSU, Moorhead soccer teams tie 0-0

Abby Kjonaas matched a career-high with 12 saves Sunday to help the Bemidji State University soccer team battle Minnesota State-Moorhead to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in Moorhead.

BSU improved to 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the NSIC while Moorhead is 5-0-1 and 1-0-1.

Despite being outshot 16-15 in with a 12-5 differential on shots on goal, the Beavers were in good hands as Kjonaas continues to keep BSU in position to gain victories. With 12 saves the senior posted her second consecutive shutout (BSU defeated Crookston 2-0 Saturday) and the fourth of her career. She now has held opponents scoreless for 246:16 straight minutes.

Because of her two shutouts Kjonaas was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week.

Kjonaas is 2-3-1 on the season. She leads the league in shutouts (2), while she is fifth among her NSIC counterparts in both goals against average (1.11) and saves (40) averaging 6.67 saves per game.
