BHS Saturday Preview: Jacks softball game canceled

Today's original schedule saw four the Bemidji sports teams in action but predicted rain and wind coaxed event officials to call off the softball team's trip to Detroit Lakes.

The Lumberjacks tennis team also was scheduled to participate in today's Moorhead Invitational but a lack of courts resulted in a change of plans and Bemidji will be taking the day off.

The abbreviated schedule now finds the boys golfers taking split squads to Greystone near Sauk Centre and to the Staples Invitational.

Also on today's agenda is a trip to Pokegama in Grand Rapids for the girls golf team.

The top six boys on the golf team will play at Greystone which also is the site of the section playoffs. Today's meet is one of three that the Lumberjacks will play on the course prior to the section tournament.

Bemidji's second team will compete at the Staples Invitational.

"Wednesday we played in snow so we're accustomed to playing in poor weather," said Jacks coach Seth Knudson. "If the weather is terrible it won't be anything new to us."

The softball team was supposed to face Detroit Lakes and Thief River Falls today in Detroit Lakes but the entire triangular has been cancelled and rescheduling the games appears to be unlikely because of a lack of mutual open dates.
