On Feb. 2, the Mustangs were prepared for the rematch against the Lake of the Woods Bears who had handed them a loss early in the season. With a sense of ease the Mustangs were able to control the floor and pull away with a 54-44 win.

They continued their pursuit on Feb. 7, beating Littlefork for the second time this season 51-41.

The Mustangs took a trip to Red Lake Feb. 15 and were able to hold off an aggressive Red Lake team and go home with a 58-43 victory.

The last game of the regular season was parent's night at home against Cass Lake Feb. 22. The first time these two teams squared off it was a tough fought battle to the end at Cass Lake.

In that game, the Mustangs were able to gain the lead towards end and upset the Panthers 63-57.

The Mustangs were ready to give the performance of a lifetime. The girls had been working hard and disciplining themselves all season long and were ready to make a statement.

The Mustangs came out with a tough aggressive full court man defense that set the tone and quickly put the Panthers in their place.

In the first couple minutes the Mustangs took a 18-3 lead and never let up. By halftime the Mustangs' dominance had brought the lead to 45-13.

In the end, the Mustangs capped off a successful season in perfect fashion beating the Panthers, 62-23.

The success of the game was due largely to the unselfish play of the Mustangs. The ladies worked as a team and everyone did their part.

Senior Brittney heck put up 15 points in the first half, going 6-for-6 from the line, adding four steals and four assists. Katey Lutz put up 8 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Senior Cathy Frenzel helped her team with 8 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Danielle Nistler and Shelene Head both also added 8 points each for the night.

The Mustangs had an outstanding season this past winter.

"They have shown great perseverance, tenacity and teamwork through out the season. The team hung together and kept things positive when facing adversity. It was very impressive to see the calmness and poise the players showed during times of great pressure," said Coach Justin Lundin.

Many games the Mustangs were able to play from behind, wear the opponent down and take the lead late in the game.

"This season's players have done a great job pushing themselves and setting the bar high for Mustang teams of the future," he said.

The Mustangs ended their regular season with a record of 11-11.
