Former Bemidji State men's hockey player Matt Read signed a multi-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

The contract begins in the 2011-12 season.

"I am excited to go to a team who really wanted me and who has a rich history," Read is quoted saying via a twitter post from his agent Paul Ostby of Sheehy Hockey.
