ST. PAUL -- Hibbing/Chisholm goaltender Nathan Tromp turned away 29 shots to help lead the Blue Jackets past third-seeded Rochester Lourdes 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Minnesota Class A high school boys hockey tournament Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center.

Hibbing/Chisholm's Nick DeCenzo had a goal and two assists to lead the offensive charge. The Blue Jackets, 18-9-2, will meet Hermantown in Friday's semifinals.

Adam Johnson, Mike Pechovnik, Jake Doherty and DeCenzo scored for Hibbing/Chisholm, which was one of the four non-seeded teams in the tournament.

Second-seeded Hermantown and top-seeded St. Thomas Academy also were quarterfinal winners Wednesday, while Thief River Falls upset fourth-seeded Breck 7-5 in the late game.

No. 2-seeded Hermantown spotted the Cardinals a 1-0 lead five seconds into the second period, but erupted for five unanswered goals before the period ended, including three in a span of 2:57.

Hermantown improved to 24-3-2. The Hawks fired 57 shots on goal and got scores from Garrett Skrbich, Jared Thomas, Travid Koepke, Jesse Dyson and Chris Benson.

It didn't take long for the Cadets to take control of this one. They scored seven times in the first period before New Ulm got on the board early in the second. It was 10-1 after two periods. The Cadets' A.J. Reed had two goals and two assists with eight shots on goal.
