Bemidji youth hockey report for Feb. 22

Pee Wee A

The Coca Cola Pee Wee A captured the title of its MAHA District 16 meet at Thief River, beating East Grand Forks 6-4 and Thief River 4-0.

It advanced Neil Heuwe's Pee Wees to the regional at Moorhead March 4-6.

Regular season games with Detroit Lakes at home Saturday and at International Falls Sunday may or may not be played.

Bemidji, which ended district play 11-1, drew an opening bye. It took a 3-1 lead in the first period against East Side and made it stand up.

Rocky Copiskey scored twice and Tarron Baker, Alex Pollock, Brady Tatro and Josh Lusby once.

Nick Leitner had three assists, Pollock and Lusby two and Copiskey, Baker, Jack Johnson and Cody Gumeringer one.

Grant Tharaldson made 11 stops. East Side had 21.

In the title game, Tharaldson stole the show with 41 stops to post the shutout.

Lusby, Johnson, Copiskey and Jarret Lalli scored with Baker, Gumeringer, Tatro, Lusby, Pollock, Tyler McNamara and Shaye Yaklich netting assists.

Thief River rejected 35 more shots in the 80-shot battle.
