Mustang Girls Basketball Update

The game that was supposed to be played Jan. 14 was rescheduled for Jan. 28. They played the game very well and the score of the game was a win of 63-31. They played an awesome game that was well deserved.

The Mustangs played Red Lake at Kelliher. The Mustangs won with a score of 55-44. The girls played really well. They have a record of 8-7. They played the Mustang way. The way of pressing. Fast breaks, good rebounds and an engine for an offense. Coach Lundin said "It was a rough physical game, I am proud of the way the girls didn't back down and played hard through out the game."

The JV won the game against Red Lake. They played very hard and were given the right payback.

The game against Blackduck was a hard and sad loss for the Mustangs. They lost by two. The score was 51-53. It was down to the wire. Brittney Heck stole the ball with one second left but just couldn't get the ball out of her hands in time for the buzzer.

The JV won their game against Blackduck. They played very hard and did very well. They were rewarded for their work.

On Jan. 24 the Lady Mustangs played Littlefork at Littlefork. This game ended in 65-50. They played very hard and got a win for their reward.

The JV also played that night and got a loss out of that game. It was a tough physically played game which was admirable but they were unable to push out a win.

Coach Lundin said that "Regardless of what might be missing one thing that they always bring day-in and day-out is 199 and percent effort 100 and percent of the time."

The seventh and eighth graders played Blackduck Jan. 17. They got a win for both seventh and eight grade.

Littlefork was one other game that the C-team played. They played a hardfought game and came out with a with a split. The seventh graders lost, unfortunately but, the eighth graders won their game. Coach Wickum said "that the girls are playing very cohesively. They have lots of talents and would benefit from more practice."

On Jan. 29, the younger girls played a conference game at Nevis. They did very well. Both the seventh and eighth graders won two games out of three. They were different teams that they lost to too.

The seventh graders won their games against Laporte and Cass Lake. They lost to Nevis though. The Cass Lake was a great game and was won by one point. To top it off it was a free throw.

The eighth graders won against Nevis and Laporte. Their loss was to Cass Lake.

Shelene Head had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

Katey Lutz had 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Kelly Heck had 8 fouls, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Brittney Heck had 5 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist.

Tonya Weidenborner had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

Cathy Frenzel had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

Danielle Nistler had 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

Daytona Kneable had 1 rebound.

Carrie Carrigan had 3 rebounds.

Red Lake stats

Katey Lutz had 13 points, 24 rebounds and 2 assists.
