Jacks wrestling team falls to Kimball, Little Falls

The Bemidji wrestlers downed Moorhead but lost to Kimball and Little Falls Saturday at a multi-team meet hosted by Fergus Falls.

BHS opened with a 63-14 loss to Kimball but dominated Moorhead 45-23. In their third match of the day the Lumberjacks were nipped 36-35 by Little Falls. The Flyers rallied to win the match by claiming four of the final five individual battles.

In Saturday's opener against Kimball BHS posted four victories. Craig Maas pinned his opponent at 130, Ryle Masterson posted a 9-4 decision victory at 135, Kodi Craft won with a pin at 152 and Justin Greenman recorded a technical fall at 171.

The Lumberjacks took an 11-0 lead after two matches against Moorhead as Tyler O'Beirne won with a pin at 103 and Brian Maas earned a technical fall at 112.

Also posting pin victories were Jake Crosby at 125, Colton Doty at 140, Nick Maggert at 215 and Al Johnson at heavyweight.

Kade Johnson was a 5-4 winner at 145, Craft beat his foe 9-1 and Brenden Fredrickson collected a 7-5 triumph at 189.

A pair of forfeits proved costly against Little Falls as the Jacks yielded six team points at 119 and 140.

Bemidji won three individual matches by pins as Brian Maas had a fall at 112, Craig Maas at 135 and Johnson at 2:20.

Logan Crosby and Jake Crosby each posted major decision victories at 125 and 130 while Doty earned a 7-4 decision win at 145 and Kade Johnson won by injury default at 152.

The Flyers, however, took the lead with pins at 160 and 215, a decision at 171 and a double-overtime 2-1 decision win at 189.

Saturday's results moved the Lumberjacks to a 10-8 dual record and Bemidji will try to improve upon that mark Tuesday when it visits Roseau.
