The Bemidji girls hockey team closed the book on the 2010 portion of its schedule in grand style Tuesday as the Lumberjacks dominated Detroit Lakes 10-0 at Nymore Arena.

BHS seldom allowed the Lakers out of their defensive zone in the opening period and the result was a 14-4 edge in shots and a 3-0 advantage in goals.

Erin Booth scored twice in the stanza and Allie Lapp notched the other. Booth completed her hat trick early in the second period and the goals were her first of the season.

The tone was set early as Detroit Lakes wasn't able to mount any offense during the first three Bemidji shifts. BHS continued to apply the pressure the rest of the period but the Lakers seemed to receive a reprieve when the Jacks were whistled for too many players on the ice at 5:41.

Bemidji, however, took advantage of the situation as the Lumberjacks won the faceoff and Lapp headed down the ice. When she reached the right circle Lapp snapped a shot which found the net over the goalie's glove.

BHS continued to apply the pressure and at 14:17 the work paid dividends when Booth converted Amanda Hunt's centering pass.

Only 10 seconds later Booth scored again, this time with a shot from the left circle that deflected off the goalie's glove.

"The kids responded to the challenges," said BHS coach Matt Menne. "I'm impressed with how we played. We never had a letdown."

Allie Heifort, Booth and Chaniel Nelson scored in the middle period and Becca Gregg, Hanna Olson, Karleigh Wolkerstorfer and Lapp lit the lamp in the final 17 minutes.

Olson's goal was her first of the winter.

Tuesday's win upped Bemidji's record to 5-9-1. The Jacks are off until Jan. 8 when they visit Fergus Falls.
