Bemidji youth hockey report for Dec. 14

Bantam A

The Bemidji Pepsi-VFW hockey team turned in its third straight 3-1 week, dropping its opener at the Roseau Invitational before sweeping the final three starts over Twin Cities opponents.

It lifted Bob Fitzgerald's forces to 9-3 on the season.

This week it hosts Thief River Falls Thursday at the BCA, and Roseau Friday at the same site before facing the East Grand Forks VFW at 1 and EGF Eagles at 6 at East Side Saturday and Crookston Sunday morning at Crookston.

At Roseau, Bemidji dropped its opener Friday 4-0 to the Fargo Flyers. Gabe Heifort kicked back 27 shots. Bemidji managed only 17.

Saturday, Bemidji scored twice in the second period to stop Eagan 2-1.

Tanner Boes and Zach Posner had the goals with Brett Hartje, Jake Leitner and Tyler Schummer drawing assists.

Garrett Atterberry made 16 saves. Eagan had 20

The Bantams then turned back Chaska 4-2 getting goals from Leitner, Mike Forseth, Ben Christopher and Brett Isensee.

Assists went to Isensee, Erik Fitzgerald, Boes, Sam Bruestle and Tyler Geerdes.

Heifort had 19 stops, Chaska had 26.

Sunday, the Bantams closed with a 4-2 win over Cottage Grove.

Isensee and Boes divided the four goals. Assists went to Isensee, Posner, Parker Lucas and Leitner.

Atterberry made 22 stops, Cottage Grove rejected 26
