When it comes to racing, it's all in the family for brothers Adam and Mike Johnson of Menahga, Minn.

Adam, 22, races in the Harris No. 72 Wissota Midwest Modified class at Bemidji Speedway, and his brother Mike, 15, races the Chevy No. 72 Pure Stock.

Getting into racing was natural for the Johnson brothers. "Dad raced, it's been in my blood forever, and I love doing it," said Adam. "There is nothing I would rather do."

Added Mike: "Watching my dad race and then my brother Adam, that's how I got into it."

Their father Lynn, although not racing, still has a big role at the races, he is the tech inspector for Bemidji Speedway and runs the lineups on restarts.

Adam is a student at Bemidji State University and a wrestling coach. He will be student teaching in the fall at Park Rapids Area High School. He has been racing for eight years, winning Rookie of the Year honors in the Street class in 2004, and in the Midwest Modified class at Grand Rapids Speedway and Bemidji Speedway in 2005. He finished second in the Pure Stock season points at Bemidji in 2004 and third in Midwest Modified points at Bemidji in both 2007 and 2008. He races weekly at Bemidji Speedway and has raced at Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Proctor, Buffalo River, Brainerd and Sauk Centre. He is sponsored by Bettin Trucking and Auto Value Part Stores.

Mike is a high school student in his first year of racing and took seventh place in his very first race. He hopes to have a good rookie year and races only at Bemidji Speedway. He also credits his dad Lynn, mom Roxanne, sister Kari and brother Adam for their support. Auto Value is his sponsor. In the fall Mike will play football and wrestle for United North Central, a cooperative team of athletes from Menahga and Sebeka high schools.

Racing resumes at 5 p.m. Sunday with Mini Stocks, Hornets, Pure Stocks, Wissota Streets, Mod Fours, Midwest Modifieds and Super Stocks.
