Bemidji Legion to be tested in St. Cloud

Fresh off Wednesday's sweep of Nisswa the Bemidji Legion team returns to action today at a tournament in St. Cloud.

The Legion begins play 10 a.m. today against Spring Lake Park and will battle Willmar at 5:30 p.m. Saturday sees Bemidji tangling with Cold Spring at 11:30 a.m. to complete its pool play.

Forming another pool are Rosetown, Thunder Bay, Waite Park (St. Cloud Apollo) and St. Cloud Chutes (Cathedral). A third pool consists of St. Cloud 76ers (Tech), Sauk Rapids, Osseo and Rochester.

Saturday afternoon the semifinals of the championship, third-place and fifth-place brackets will be played and those winners will advance to Sunday's play.

"Top to bottom, this field includes the toughest teams we'll face all year," said Legion coach Mike Fogelson. "The tough field is why we play in this event each year.

Jeremiah Graves and Ryan Stevens are scheduled to pitch today while Zach Solheim and Matt Schneider are slated for Saturday.
