Climie, Stars lead Calder series

CEDAR?PARK, Tex. - Bemidji State alum Matt Climie had 23 saves for the Texas Stars in a 6-3 Calder Cup Finals loss to the Hershey Bears Monday night.

Texas still leads the best-of-seven series for the American Hockey League championship trophy 2-1.

The Stars lost the game in front of a record crowd of 7,014 fans and blew a 3-1 lead after one period with five unanswered goals.

Texas will host Game 4 of the Calder Cup Finals Wednesday night.

Climie had 25 saves in a 2-0 Game 2 victory Saturday and had 26 saves in the Game 1 victory last Thursday.

Climie went pro in 2008 after his senior season with Bemidji State and has played in a handful of games at the ?NHL level since then.

He left BSU with 12 career shutouts, which stands as the program record. His four-year career goals against average (2.16) and save percentage (.913) rank second in program history.

Climie finished the regular season 21-17-3 and was ranked in the AHL's top 10 in save percentage (.919) and goals against average (2.46).

He is expected to compete for a backup role for Dallas in the NHL?next season.
