Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

Weight training program to start

The summer weight training program at Bemidji High School will open today.

It will run Monday through Thursday through Aug. 12 with one-hour morning sessions at 7, 8, 9 and 10 and afternoon sessions at 5.

Assistant football coach Bryan Stoffel will head a three-man staff which includes J.T. Mathy and Kyle McMartin.

"We have developed a state of the art training program designed to improve our student athlete's explosive strength," said Stoffel.

"This translates into every sport and our mission this summer will be to develop the whole athlete, not specialize to meet only certain sports.

For staffing purposes, athletes should indicate which of the sessions they prefer to attend though they are not limited to that single hour.

Cost of the 10-week program is $50 payable to Bemidji High School.
