Bemidji HS Thursday Preview: Jacks baseball team closes out regular season

The Bemidji baseball team will close its regular season today when the Lumberjacks entertain Moorhead 4:30 p.m. at the BSU diamond.

BHS will take a 12-7 record into the contest while the Spuds are 15-4. In their most recent action the Jacks thumped Detroit Lakes 8-1 on Monday while Moorhead blitzed the Lakers 12-1 on Tuesday.

The teams met about a month ago in Moorhead and Bemidji posted a 12-9 victory. Moorhead also has lost to Sauk Rapids-Rice 9-5 and to Brainerd 9-8.

The Spuds split with Alexandria, winning 12-10 and losing 2-0.

The Lumberjacks also split with Alexandria, winning 3-2 and losing 6-0, and were nipped by Brainerd 7-6 in the opening game of the season. BHS does own a 7-5 victory over Sauk Rapids-Rice.


The boys tennis team will participate in the individual portion of the section tennis meet today at Brainerd.

Levi Rickert and Joey Wood will represent the Jacks in singles action while the two BHS doubles teams will pair Justin Byers with Kyle Fodness and Ben Holter with Adam Holter.

Rickert will open against Thomas Polleries of St. Cloud Apollo and Wood will tangle with third-seeded Riley Bates of St. Cloud Tech.

Ben and Adam Holter are seeded second in doubles and will open against Sam Burns and Gabe Steinwand of Moorhead.

Fodness and Byers will play No. 3 Tyler Bates and Miles Bates of Tech.
