Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

Jacks baseball, softball teams set for Grand Rapids

Today's schedule features battles between Bemidji and Grand Rapids as the boys tennis team hosts the Thunderhawks while the softball squad heads to Grand Rapids.

Both contests are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday the BHS teams will be very busy. Friday sees the tennis team heading to Moorhead in its regular-season finale, the boys and girls golfers traveling to Longbow and the baseball team hosting the annual Des Sagedahl wooden bat tournament.

On Saturday the golf teams will head to Wildflower, the softball squad will end its regular season with a visit to Grand Forks Central for a doubleheader and the baseball team will complete the Sagedahl tournament.

Scott Engelstad's tennis team is coming off last Friday's split with Fergus Falls and Moorhead. BHS fell to the Otters 6-1 but bounced the Spuds 5-2.

In the latter match, Ben Kloha and Alex Hess won at second and fourth singles and the Jacks swept the doubles.

Ben Holter and Joey Wood won at first, Adam Holter and Justin Byers were victorious at second and Kyle Fodness teamed with Craig Lindseth at third.

The Jacks will take a 4-7 record into today's match.

The softball team has had a few days to rest following a stretch last week which saw Bemidji play six games in three days, winning four and losing two. Included in that aggressive schedule were three Saturday games at the Cloquet Invitational.

BHS took second place at the tournament, stopping Ogilvie 8-2 and Chanhassen 4-1 but losing to Chaska 8-2 in the championship contest.
