Bemidji HS Thursday preview: Jacks softball host Duluth East

The Bemidji softball team will own the home spotlight today as the Lumberjacks entertain Duluth East at 4:30 p.m.

Also in action today is the tennis team which will visit Thief River Falls.

The softball team (7-2) is coming off an impressive 11-0 win Monday at St. Cloud Tech. Jess Yost pitched a 1-hitter to record the mound victory and also belted two of Bemidji's 10 hits.

Janelle Williams had a productive day at the plate as the sophomore ripped three hits, scored two runs and drove in three more.

Also contributing two hits were Emily Larson and Chelsea Johnson.

The Lumberjacks will also be in action Friday when they visit Grand Forks Central.

The home schedule will come to a close May 4 against Grand Forks Red River but the month also includes games at Moorhead (May 6), Brainerd (May 7), Fargo North (May 11), Thief River (May 13), Cloquet (May 15) and Grand Rapids (May 20).


Fresh off Tuesday's 5-2 victory at Detroit Lakes, the Bemidji boys tennis team (3-4) invades Thief River Falls to close April's schedule.

May sees the Lumberjacks making four home appearances, May 8 against Thief River Falls and Monticello, May 11 against Detroit Lakes and East Grand Forks, May 14 in a dual with Crookston and May 20 against Grand Rapids.

Tuesday at Detroit Lakes BHS claimed all four singles matches and added a doubles victory.

The singles winners included Ben Holter at first, Adam Holter at second, Kyle Fodness at third and Craig Lindseth at fourth.

Justin Byers and Alec Hess were victorious at second doubles. Falling in doubles action were Levi Rickert and Joey Wood at first doubles and Ben Kloha and Hayden Byers at third.
