Youth baseball summer signup underway

Registration for this summer's youth night league and day league baseball programs is now underway.

Action will take place in the same three divisions, Junior (9-19), Senior (11-12) and Babe Ruth Intact League (13-15).

Players may register this weekend at Play It Again Sports Saturday from 9-3 and Sunday from 10-3. The final day to mail in registrations is April 30.

Registration forms are available on the BYL web site under the document center.

VFW prospects (15-16) may also register at those times but must include a copy of their birth certificate.

All 13-15 year old players should register as soon as possible so that the BYL can plan for the number of intact teams that will play. That league will normally include 4-6 out of town teams.

There will be a major change in this league.

With the lack of pull tab funds available from the BBA, the 13, 14 and 15 year old traveling teams have been cancelled as such, a major step backward for the baseball program.

Those players will now compete in the Intact League with the all star units from those players to play a limited number of weekend tournaments prior to the state meets.

In the past few years, they have played separate 25-35 game schedules which have paid dividends with the increase of quality 0prospects moving into the high school ranks.

Day League registration will remain open through June 7 with a $40 fee before May 18 and $60 fee thereafter.

Pony League players (7-8) will need a birth certificate copy.

Play will again include T-Ball (5-6) and minor league (9-11).

The registration form and league schedules are also posted on the web site.
