Bemidji HS gymnastics: Perham turns back Jacks

The Bemidji High gymnastics team got its first look at state champion Perham Tuesday, bowing 151-129 at Perham.

The pair will meet again Feb. 1 at Bemidji, a meet moved up a week from its original date.

Perham matched its season average score with 151.55 points. Bemidji was under its recent average with 129.95.

Pelham's scores and placings were not available.

For Bemidji, Katie Jensen led on the vault at 8.9 followed by Nicole McDonald, Rachel Bell and Jess Bergquist.

Bell was tops on the bars at 8.9 with Jensen, McDonald and Amy Carey completing the scoring.

McDonald led on the beam at 7.85 trailed by Bell, Bergquist and Carey.

Bell led the team on the floor at 8.85 trailed by Bergquist and Beck with Carey and Jensen tying for fourth.

Perham won the JV meet 131-103 over the shorthanded visitors who entered only three on the bars and floor.

Alysha Moe led the team with a 28.6 all around.
