Bemidji youth hockey report for Jan. 16


The girls 14-Under hockey team took third place at its own invitational last weekend, going 2-1 in pool play and beating Cottage Grove 2-0 for third.

the team featured a strong defense allowing only two goals in its four games.,

The results lifted the team to 10-8-1. It hosted Ft. Frances Friday, takes on Warroad this afternoon and closes tonight at Brainerd before traveling to East Grand Forks Sunday.

Heather Bjerke had the only goal in the 1-0 win over the 1-0 win over Grand Forks Angels. Francesca Huerd drew the assist.

Emily Frazer made 15 saves, the Angels had 42.

The Eastman Selects of Winnipeg then beat Bemidji 1-0. Frazer made eight stops, Winnipeg had 14.

Bemidji completed pool play with an 8-1 win over Coon Ra-ids. Huerd and Erin Booth had two goals and Myria Colley, Karlee Tower, Bjerk and Ashley Dolezal one.

Savannah Hanson, Hailey Hinners and Huerd had two assists and Jordyn Follis, Emily Boyer and Booth, one.

Frazer had 10 saves. Cottage Grove had 44.

In the third place game, Colley and Dolezal had the goals with Booth and Hinners getting assists.

Frazer rejected 23 shots. Cottage Grove made 20 saves.

Bantam B

The Bemidji Bantam B hockey team shaded Thief River Falls 5-4 Sunday at Nymore Gardens to up its record to 6-12.

It hosts Crookston Saturday at the BCA and Bagley Sunday noon at Neilson-Reise before heading to Thief River Falls a for 5:15 game.

Tyler Geerdes scored twice and Andy Kucera once in the second period and Seth Neubeck and Parker Lucas in the third.

Josh Rogers, Neubeck and Kucera had assists.

Jack Schmidgall made 31 stops for Bemidji. Thief River saves were not reported.
