Bemidji HS boys hockey: Brainerd wins third period to beat BHS

Brainerd scored two third period goals Tuesday night and held off Bemidji in the final minute to register a 5-4 decision on its home ice.

The Warriors are now 10-2 while Bemidji dropped to 9-6. The Jacks host Duluth Marshall Friday at Nymore Arena.

Bemidji jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals by Steve Heller and Rylee Curb.

But Brainerd fought back to tie before the period ended on a power play goal.

McLean pushed the Warriors ahead to stay early in the third period and Matt Pohlkamp added what proved to be the game winner with an open net tally at 16:12.

But the Warriors drew a penalty and Joe Welle cashed in for Bemidji with16 seconds remaining before time ran out.

Axel Osborn kicked back 36 shots in a fine performance subbing for the injured Miah Graves. Reed Mimmack had 27 saves for the Warriors.
